While crossing a homemade bridge on a Southern Florida beach walk, Alex exclaimed to me, “this is exactly where you would see a giant snake–” and before he could even finish the word, one slithered out in front of our feet. Alex has never met an animal he didn’t immediately care for, but even he gets taken aback by snakes in the wild. We continued on, discussing the beauty of their markings and how foreign their bodies movements are to us.

I made this drawing thinking of that day and that beautiful snake I was so afraid of - unpredictable, dark and mysterious colors in motion.
